2002
Negotiation Update:
We returned to the table on
Wednesday, November 13, 2002
. The PMA presented us with a
pension proposal at that time. We
recessed on Wednesday afternoon to review the PMA’s proposal.
On Thursday afternoon, we returned to the table to discuss the pension
proposal further. Negotiations are
ongoing.
Port Oversight
Committees Have Been Formed Successfully in
Southern California
and the
Puget Sound
. Headed
by Los Angeles City Council member Janice Hahn, a special
Los Angeles
area port oversight committee toured the port and held a hearing last week.
The committee is designed to bring attention to the issues affecting both
employees and the employers at major West Coast ports including port safety,
infrastructure, and productivity.
