Election Notice: Please note that due to an oversight, the letterhead on the “Notice of ILWU Referendum Election and Instructions to Voters” document in the ballot packet had the letterhead of the previous set of officers during the last election. The text of the Notice is correct and is available here.

Local 19: Due to an inadvertent processing error at the International, the names and addresses of the Local 19 eligible voters were mixed up resulting in ballots being sent to the wrong addresses. In order to correct this error, our election vendor will be sending ballots out to the correct addresses early next week (June 23, 2003). Local 19 members should discard the original ballots and vote using the replacement ballots.

Please be assured that regardless of how many ballots that are sent in by an individual not more than one ballot will be counted. Election Rule 14.F.4 states, “Where more than one (1) mail and/or absentee ballot is received from a member, the ballot with the latest postmark or receipt stamp shall be counted and the other(s) voided. Where it is not possible to determine the latest postmark or receipt stamp, all such ballots shall be voided.”
